‘Grown from the soil’ Long before the slew of electric cars that we are seeing at Auto Shows today, Henry Ford had conceptualized and built a car that was built from Cannabis derived hemp. It could run on hemp oil too! The world's greenest car? You tell us! In 1941, after twelve years of arduous research, Henry Ford showcased his ultimate product with the potential to have changed the environment, a car made entirely out of hemp and could run off hemp fuel as well as vegetable oil. The cars panels were moulded under hydraulic pressure of 1,500-pound psi from a recipe that used 70 percent of cellulose fibres from wheat straw, hemp and sisal plus 30 percent resin binder. The only steel in the entire body was in the cars tubular welded frame. The body itself was 10X stronger than steel. Henry Ford was so confident on the strength of the panel that he took an axe to the show car. The axe, that would have cut through any steel panel simply bounced back. Rudolf Diesel, the father of the diesel motor, was also contracted in the making. He designed an engine for the ‘Plastic’ Car to run off vegetable and seed oils like hemp. In fact, Ford always saw vegetable oils as the future of fuels famously quoted saying “there’s enough alcohol in one year’s yield of an acre of potatoes to drive the machinery necessary to cultivate the fields for one hundred years.” Unfortunately, the powers that be at the time, included the massively powerful and wealthy gasoline industry, that lobbied hard to keep alcohol taxes high and drop the price of gasoline. This even “coincided” with the prohibition of alcohol and hemp in the 1920’s. A tombstone for the project that relied heavily on hemp! Could Henry Ford have really changed the world with this car? Welcome to Bridport, the home of Zizi. Our story starts in an industrial town along the south-west coast of the United Kingdom. Since the Middle Ages Bridport has been associated with the production of rope and nets. The earliest official record of this industry dates from 1211, when King John ordered that Bridport make "as many ropes for ships both large and small and as many cables as you can". The raw materials needed, flax and hemp, used to be grown in the surrounding countryside. Even after industrialisation, outworkers were still employed to produce fine hand-braided net. The work was mostly done by women and the children and eventually each village came to specialise in a certain type of net. Ashley was eleven years old when the school told her she couldn’t to go to class anymore. The school didn’t allow her medical marijuana patch or CBD lotions that she used for her seizures.⁠ Ashley was only a toddler when doctors diagnosed her with childhood acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). Tired of seeing her like that, the family turned to medical marijuana as a form of treatment. ⁠ It’s the cannabidiol that helps with seizures and pain and not the THC, which causes the high.⁠ Medical marijuana is often used as a treatment for cancer patients. But prescribed or not, her patch wasn’t allowed in school.⁠ The family went to court, and in time Ashley returned to school. Together in solidarity. #legaliseit The first and most basic reason that marijuana should be legal is that there is no good reason for it not to be legal. Some people ask 'why should marijuana be legalized?" but we should ask "Why should marijuana be illegal?" From a philosophical point of view, individuals deserve the right to make choices for themselves. The government only has a right to limit those choices if the individual's actions endanger someone else. This does not apply to marijuana, since the individual who chooses to use marijuana does so according to his or her own free will. The government also may have a right to limit individual actions if the actions pose a significant threat to the individual. But this argument does not logically apply to marijuana because marijuana is far less dangerous than some drugs which are legal, such as alcohol and tobacco. The second important reason that marijuana should be legal is that it would save governments across the world a ton of money. In the United States, all levels of government (federal, state, and local authorities) participate in the "War on Drugs." They currently spend billions of dollars every year to chase peaceful people who happen to like to get high. These people get locked up in prison and the taxpayers have to foot the bill. In turn citizens have to pay for food, housing, health care, attorney fees, court costs, and other expenses to lock these people up. Money can definitely be better spent elsewhere dont you agree? Some more reasons why is should be legalised: 1. Medicinal use: Marijuana can be used as medicine, there are countless medical Marijuana patients that are a testament to the healing properties of Marijuana. 2. Hemp: The hemp plant is a valuable natural resource. Legalizing marijuana would eliminate the confusion surrounding hemp and allow us to take advantage of hemp's agricultural and industrial uses. 3. Religious Use: Just like Christianity and Judaism instruct their followers to drink wine on certain occaisions, some Hindus, Buddhists, Rastafarians, and members of other religions use marijuana as part of their spiritual and religious ceremonies.

Charlotte’s tale is a well-known medical marijuana story in the medical cannabis world. Charlotte was three years old when she had her first seizure. Her seizures increased in both intensity and frequency as she got older. Doctors diagnosed Charlotte with Dravet’s Syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy. She was only five years old and suffering roughly 300 grand mal seizures per week. Her body was so badly affected that her parents and doctor put her in a medically induced coma. With no options for Charlotte, the family turned to medical cannabis. The results were astounding. Charlotte suffered no seizures her first week of trying the cannabis oil. The family turned to the Stanley Brothers to supply them with a supply of medical marijuana. The brothers created a strain with no psychoactive effects. The strain worked so well that the brothers changed the name of the strain to Charlotte’s Web in honour of her. 💚
